Bollywood actor Fardeen Khan pleaded not guilty to cocaine possession which makes it about the suspects in the case along with two others. Described in the Indian Express, Division of Narcotics Drugs and Substance Psychotropiv or NDPS verdict maximum 6months imprisonment and a fine of 10.000 Rupees, or about 1.83 million dollars or could even exceed it.
Against two other defendants-Nasir Karim Sheikh and Tony Gomes Hector-court criminal sentencing under section 21 (B)NDPS is punishment ranging from one year to 10 years and fines of about more than 100,000 rupees or more than 18.3 million dollars.
Actors from Dulha Mil Gaya Jai and Veeru is captured by theNDPS in Juhu area in May of 2001 yesterday for possession of cocaine. Shaikh and Gomes are suspected as the seller also arrested with him. When Khan said'm buying a gram of cocaine, the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) found 9 grams of the others also recovered from Khan and Shaikh.
Khan said he was happy over the verdict of the court which turned out to be lower than expected. "We have lodged an appeal since 10 years ago. Court accuse the punishment for a gram of cocaine alone. I'm happy, "he told reporters.
