Amala Akkineni is a famous actress of South Indian film spent in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi films. Amala was born in West Bengal for a Bengali father and Irish mother. Its original name is Amal Mukherjee. She has an older brother and sister. She was educated in Kalakshetra, Madras. She was a Bharatanatyam dancer by profession.

In 1992, she married Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, her co-star in Ram Gopal Vermas Shiva (film) and a stepmother to his son 6-year-old (at that time) called Naga Chaitanya, from her previously married men.

Her son Akhil (born 1994) acted in a film Sisindri (1995), a copy of babies adopted by Hollywood film Out Day, as a baby.

Amala recently Nagarjunas congratulation in Melbourne.

Amala and her husband Nagarjuna started the Blue Cross of Hyderabad, an organization dedicated to animal welfare. Through Blue Cross are working in nine areas: animal rescue, Veterinary Hospital, prevent cruelty, animal shelter, mobile clinic, education, wildlife protection, environmental protection, and facilitation of community.

She is a practicing vegetarian. She also teaches yoga for women, and actively promote mutual harmony.

Amala made her debut in a Tamil film titled Yennai Kadali Mythili run by T. Rajendar, who was a huge box office hit. She also starred in several Bollywood movies, but her career has been concentrated in South Indian cinema.

Winning overnight fame in a Tamil film by famous director T. Rajendar, she charmed cinegoers in a flurry of fifty films. She has acted in several Telugu and Tamil films. Its performance in Pushpak, Agninakshtram (Gharshana), Nirnayam and Shiva are unforgettable.

It quickly became one of India's beloved movie stars - pretty, dancer alive and beautiful.
